Where Love Comes From: The Heart.

In a Hadith, The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:
"Beware! There is a piece of flesh in the body, if it becomes good (i.e, reformed), the whole body becomes good, but if it get spoilt, the whole body gets spoilt, and that is the Heart." (Bukhari)

Hearts are inconstant: they change each hour like a feather blown by the wind turning it upside-down. Our heart condition now is different from the one we have had an hour ago, and it will be certainly different after and hour and so on. Hearts are naturally 'inconstant' because of their changeable nature.

We as human beings tend to complain that our Hearts are not at rest. That our Hearts are in pain; worrying about life, children and everything else. There is but a sol cure for all these things and I will start with my first advice.
Allah says in the Quran"
"Verily in the Remembrance of Allah do Hearts find Rest" (13:28)

Our Hearts will not find rest unless we remember Allah. If we want our Hearts to find rest and filled with goodness, and not caring for earthly troubles whatsoever then we should fill our Hearts with the Remembrance of Allah.

My second advice comes from a Dua which The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said the most
Oh Turner of the Hearts, keep our Hearts firm on Your Religion
O Turner of the Hearts, Keep Our Hearts firm on Your Religion.

Lastly, I will leave you with a short lecture from Shaykh Saleh Maghamsi advising those who want to Soften their Hearts.
